When it comes to chronographs, my fondness for the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept Split-Seconds Chronograph GMT Large Date isn't just about its functionality; another reason is simply its sheer coolness! Unlike other chronographs that strive for minimalism in design, Audemars Piguet seems to go against the grain, making it a masterpiece of maximalism in both function and design. The 43mm forged case is not only moisture-resistant, heat-resistant, and shock-resistant, but its lightweight structure also features a unique blue luminescent texture. The bezel, crown, pushers, and case back are crafted from black ceramic. The dark skeletonized dial is accented with electric blue details, maintaining excellent legibility despite its overall maximalism. The white gold hour markers and hands, the chronograph sub-dials' hands, and even the large date window are all coated with luminescent material, creating a striking and unique luminescent effect on the case.

Although the watch is 17.4 mm thick, it integrates flyback chronograph, split-seconds chronograph, dual time zone, and large date display functions. To minimize thickness, Audemars Piguet designed a cavity between the rotor and the movement's automatic rotor, embedding the split-seconds components within it to avoid adding extra thickness. The internal Calibre 4407 movement features a non-magnetic balance spring and undergoes multiple finishing processes including sandblasting, brushing, perforation, and polished chamfering. It vibrates at 28,800 vibrations per hour and boasts a 70-hour power reserve.
